I recently repaired a maroon and a turquoise Schatz standard 400 day clock with diamond-shaped dial. Both of these clocks have a painted base, pendulum, pillars and dial with brass trim. The dials have an image in center of two people lighting Japanese lanterns. I repaired a black one of the same style in 2009.

The dates on the clocks are December 1952, July 1952 and October 1952. The hands on the maroon clock are brass with no paint. The turquoise clock has brass hands with maroon paint, and the black clock has brass hands with black paint.

In the post about the black clock, I called the dial’s image “beehives and beekeepers”, but I now think that the image is of people lighting Japanese lanterns. If you have any information about the dial, please comment on this post. I think these are some of the most beautiful 400 day clocks that Schatz made, and I wonder if they came in any other colors.
