Birge & Fuller 8 Day Standard Cornice & Column Shelf Clock

Birge & Fuller was in business from 1843 to 1848, and was one of a series of firms (started by Joseph Ives) making weight driven clocks with strap brass movements and rolling pinions.

This beautiful clock is in excellent condition except that the backboard label is missing. Notice the beautiful reverse painted tablets in the center door and lower door. The dial is painted wood.

The repair work on the movement included: remove solder from the fan fly and fit a tension wire, replace the time click rivet, straighten one bent pivot, polish the pivots and install 11 bushings, and replace the suspension rod (it had a replacement with a very thick suspension spring). The minute hand is not original.
