Another Miniature Gilbert Mantel Clock – Green Beehive Case

Here’s another miniature Gilbert mantel clock (see “A Gilbert Miniature Round Top Mantel Clock” for the first one). This clock has a green beehive case with floral decorations. The case is 8 1/2 inches tall, 6 9/16 inches wide, and the minute hand is 1 15/16 inches long, with an engraved brass dial.

Repair job 6618. I polished the pivots, installed 20 bushings, made a new tension spring for the strike warning lever, and made a new brass insert for the hammer.

  1. This movement is smaller and more difficult to repair than the standard movement. An overhaul will be around $600 to $750.

The repair cost is more than the market value, but it may be worth it to you to have repaired if it has great sentimental value.

I’m running about 6 – 8 months behind on repair work, I can put your name on my waiting list if you wish, and have you wait to sent the clock until I am ready to repair it.

  2. I have an identical Gilbert mantel clock. It is a pleasant little clock which we use in the guest bedroom. I think that I over wound it. It seems ” jammed up”. Is it worth repairing. If so how do I get it to you

  3. Just bought my first Westclox Lookout kitchen timer . How do you figure out date from numbers on back?
