Here is a metal cased Waterbury figure mantel clock called “Varden” that I repaired recently. Tran Duy Ly’s book “Waterbury Clocks” shows this clock, and gives the date 1899 – 1900.
This clock is 11 7/8 inches tall and 15 inches wide. The enamel dial’s minute track is 87.8 mm outside diameter (just under 3 1/2 inches). The flat glass lens is beveled. The minute hand is not original.
The movement is round and has rack and snail striking. The mainsprings are in going barrels.
Repair job 6827. I polished the pivots and installed 5 bushings.
