Ansonia La Layon Royal Bonn Porcelain China Mantel Clock

I overhauled this beautiful Ansonia Royal Bonn china cased clock, called “La Layon”. It has a visible escapement in the center of the dial, and was made around 1900. The dial is enamel.

Repair job 7453. I re-pinned one pinion, polished the pivots and installed 17 bushings.

These Ansonia movements use very thin mainsprings. The dimensions of this clock’s original springs are:

  • Time: 5/8 inch wide by 0.0138 inch thick
  • Strike: 3/4 inch wide by 0.014 inch thick

  1. They are about 96 inches long, but longer ones such as 108″ or 120″ would also work.

  2. Hello Bill,
I follow your work with interest.
How long are the original mainsprings for these type of Ansonia Movements?
    Thanks for sharing.
