Kienzle “Louvre” 400 Day Clock with Badische Movement

This Kienzle “Louvre” style 400 day clock has a Badische movement (a lower price movement with pin-pallet escapement and lantern pinions). This clock has a strange four-ball pendulum with no regulator. Instead, the lower suspension block is the regulator, with means to lengthen or shorten the active length of the suspension spring.

Repair job 7211. The mainspring barrel had been repaired in the past, but the new teeth didn’t give a smooth action, so I had a new barrel gear made. I trued the bent T2 arbor, and flattened the bulge in the barrel around the hook. I polished the pivots and bushed T2F to move gear T2 away from the barrel for smoother gear motion.

The suspension spring is 0.004 inch, thinned down to get it within regulating range.
