E. N. Welch 8 Day Walnut Parlor Clock

I repaired this clock and had the dial repainted by the Dial House. This clock dates from the 1880s or 1890s. Welch is known for their beautiful walnut shelf clocks.

Repair job 8422. I polished the pivots and installed 12 bushings, re-pinned two pinions and reversed the wires in two more. The verge is a replacement. It had too much inside drop, so I closed it slightly. It had deep wear groves, so I moved the escape wheel to engage the unworn surface.

The clock has nice thin original mainsprings:

Time: 3/4 inch wide by .0165 inch thick

Strike: 3/4 inch wide by .016 to .017 inch thick

The mainwheel teeth have very little wear (less than 5%).
