Here’s a white Adamantine mantel clock by Seth Thomas that I repaired. Adamantine is a celluloid veneer applied over the wood. Seth Thomas made these clocks in many colors and varieties, the white one is not as common as some of the other colors (such as mahogany, black and imitation marble). The color is actually off-white, not bright white (it may have been brighter when new).
This 8 day clock has the popular and reliable No. 89 C movement.

Repair job 8252. I polished the pivots and installed 16 bushings. I tightened the click rivets, and moved the escape wheel back to engage with unworn pallet surface. The mainsprings were not original and were too strong, so I replaced them with the following springs:
Time: 3/4 x 0.014 x 108″ (Merritt’s MS301)
Strike: 3/4 x 0.016 x 108″ (Merritt’s MS310)
This clock uses a double end key: large end size 6 for winding, and small end 4/0 for regulating.
